Mantra's, Mottos and How We Get Ourselves Into All Sorts Of Trouble

If you are gonna be a bear, be a grizzly.

We have said that phrase to ourselves countless times throughout the last year. I've been pleasantly surprised at just how versatile the saying is. We have used it to talk ourselves into buying beef steers for the first time. Then again once we decided to jump in with all 4 of our feet and completely gut and remodel our first house, while expecting baby no. 4.

Little did we know that the steers would run away, four feet would turn into three due to my throwing a fit and attempt to make a point that I could handle all the chores by myself. Ending in 3 broken bones in my foot when I was 35 weeks pregnant. Lastly, baby no. 4 would come into the world before the midwife could get there and was born with just Timothy and I at home.

Through all this (and much, much more) we kept telling each other if your gonna be a bear, be a grizzly subsequently finding the courage to carry on. On those special occasions that being a grizzly wasn't quite enough I would tell Timothy that that we were separating the boys from the men in our crazy endeavors and/or the tedious, not so glamorous task that were necessary for us to succeed. Can you tell we are both the competitive type?

This past year has truly been a blur. I am hopeful that I am learning to cope with our new, run as fast as you can, lifestyle.

We finished the house.

Found, fattened and ate our steers.

Baby no. 4 happens to be one of the best things to ever happen to our family.

Now, as we are digging into the next house, are a week away from butchering our second set of beef steers, all the while daydreaming about the next project, I have managed to claim a new motto/mantra/whatever you want to call it. Are you ready to hear it? It is pretty profound...

Do it anyways.

When it is raining buckets and you need to get your plants in the ground and you don't want to.

Do it anyways.

When it is raining buckets (again) and you need to put up a fence.

Do it anyways.

When you are feeling a bit under the weather due to so many days working out in the rain....

Do it anyways.

Get up, put your head down and get back to work.
